Special Needs Swim Night returns May 9 at Splash Zone

After-hours waterpark event for guests with special needs

[NORTH CHARLESTON] – Charleston County Parks are welcoming people with special needs, their families, caregivers and friends to a unique night at the waterpark! On Saturday, May 9, Splash Zone Waterpark on James Island will open its gates in the evening for these guests to enjoy.

 

Special Needs Swim Night will take place after the waterpark is closed to the general public, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

 

Splash Zone, located within James Island County Park, brings the Caribbean to Charleston with island-style play structures, two 200-foot-long slides, a large leisure pool, and a lazy river.

 

Lifeguards will be on duty throughout the evening. Admission to Special Swim Night is $7 per person attending. Food and beverages will be available for purchase at the waterpark. Currently, Splash Zone waterpark is open on weekends only for the general public, from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Splash Zone will open for daily operations on May 25.

 

Whirlin’ Waters Adventure Waterpark in North Charleston will also host a Special Needs Swim Night on June 20 and July 18. This event is brought to you by the AccessABILITY program of the Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission. Other events hosted for people with special needs include the Special Needs Dance Party on May 13 at the Cooper River Room in Mount Pleasant. In addition to Special Needs Swim Night, Whirlin’ Water Adventure Waterpark is available for private party rentals after hours, a great option for corporate functions and other large groups seeking entertainment and summertime fun. The waterpark also features Luau Landing, a private rental grassy picnic area specifically designed for group use.
